Saturday was the 6th Annual Bainbridge Quilt Festival put on by the Bainbridge Island Modern Quilt Guild (BIMQG). Basically we take over the streets of Winslow much like the Sister Quilt Show. The Main Street is lined wwith quilt for one day a year. As a charter member of the guild it’s been so inspiring to watch the festival grow and evolve over the years. Each year we create a quilt to raffle off and use the money to fund our show for the following year.

Guild members created blocks from the pattern. Here is the link to Kellys Winter’s Moon pattern tutorial.
Susan Smith of Pine Creek Quilting has the pleasure of doing our quilting.
I love seeing quilts in the wild. The women and men who labor for hours and hours creating such unique pieces of art are an inspiration to all who walk the streets viewing thier work. It’s a joy to see passers by get involved in conversation about a quilt style or design. During the event people could get really involved at the American Hero’s Quilt In by sewing a block for a quilt to be given to a woulded soldier.
In the gazebo at Winslow Green we displayed a Log Cabin Mini Quilt guild challenge. All the mini quilts are based on the traditional log cabin block. What a great challenge! Each quilter took the idea and ran with it in a different way. My goal was to make it modern. I ended up with 3 mini quilts and one large quilt. All based off the log cabin block. I wrote about the here Log Cabin Challenge and Log Cabin Challenge 2
I threw some curves at my log cabins and ended up with may favorite quilt that I’ve made so far. More on my Curvy Cutie quilt in a future blog post. Let’s get to more street photos.
Christine Barnes held a class called Urban Sunset for the guild in May. Here are a few of the resulting quilts. So similar and yet so different. The class focused on color and skinny strip piecing. Christine was delightful. A super instructor. You can tell by the results!!!
