Logan Pass
Oh boy!!! Each day there are more incredible views. We hiked the Hidden Lakes trail at Logan Pass. Starting at the visitor center we climbed 540 feet in elevation to the view point at 7152 feet which is 2.7 miles round trip. Boy did that 540 feet seem much, much further. Living at sea level makes hiking at elevation hard to breath.
The views were worth it. We saw mountain goats with babies along the trail. Cute little baby goats! The hike takes you across a few snowfields. I was glad I brought my hiking poles. I find it much less strenuous on my knees coming down the mountain using the hiking poles.
Going to the Sun Road
The Going to the Sun Road was completed in 1932 and travels across the park covering 50 miles of terrain. You’ll drive thru two tunnels and along steep cliffs right on the side of the mountains with amazing stunning views around every twist and turn.
We left from St. Mary going West to Logan Pass then down to Lake MacDonald and Apgar Visitor Center. What a thrilling ride!!! The view above is looking across the valley at the road cut into the mountain side.
As I type this there is a wild fire from a lightning strike burning at Lake McDonald. Praying the fire is contained soon. I’ll continue my Glacier National Park adventrue tomorrow with pics from the lodge and lake.
Happy travels!
